Collections Planning

Caring for collections is the heart and soul of interpretation.

I worked with collections for over a decade at world-class institutions and small historical societies and I hold a Masters in Preventive Conservation. There’s nothing I find more rewarding than sharing my passion for collections with my clients. I can help you plan for the collection you want or care for the collection you have.

How I can help

  • Planning: What are the gaps in your collection now? How can you work with community to fill them?

  • Preservation: What risks do your objects face? How can you mitigate those risks right now and long into the future?

  • Volunteers: I’ve built and managed volunteer corps of over 70 regular volunteers. Let me help you leverage your stakeholders in a new way.

  • Interns: I believe in the power of internships to shape an organization, but they aren’t just free labor.

  • Policies: I’ve written and implemented collections care policies for multiple organizations.

  • Storage: How can you plan limited storage space to accomodate current and future collections?

  • Inventories: Plan and execute collection surveys or inventories with my guidance or assistance.

  • Workshops: Bring me out to speak to your staff or your board about any of the topics above.

  • Photography: I can guide you through the nitty gritty details of creating a digital collection through photography.
